-Nichijou

AHHH, the very very first ever anime I finished, and one that set the bar REALLY high...

Like, I was asking a friend for anime recommendations and they recommended JJK, and I watched like 3 episodes and wasn't really into it tbh, then, IDEK how I found out about nichijou, I think it was from the living tombstone? But I'm not even sure, I watched the first episode of Nichijou and was IMMEDIATELY charmed.

I lalallalOVE it soo much, if you say good morning in malay I will be triggered with an obligatory Nichijou reference, it's been 3-4 years since I first watched Nichijou, and I still am eternally charmed by it... Yk how some old people have a defining piece of media in their youth? I'm glad mine is Nichijou! And of course when CITY the Animation was announced I ran around my house...

I remember trying to ration Nichijou episodes, and when I got to 26 and its ENDING (iykyk) I wept as I realize no peak will compare. That's when I decided to look for more nichijou content online, and like, yo the ONLY reason I made social media accounts was SPECIFICALLY for Nichijou, I used to only have youtube as social media, then I downloaded the rest to get more Nichi content.. I am THE Nichi-Joe.

I remember for a cosplay event at my school I decided to be Nano Shinonome, but my costume SUCKEDD, like the key didn't even spin yo! It was a foam pool noodle and paper towel tube I repurposed to be a key, I printed one of Nano's shirts, and I was planning on getting a toddler 8-ish year old relative to be Hakase and come with me bruhrueh, I AM the NANO.

When I went to Japan, I was dead set on gettin Nichijou merch, but being an anime from 2011, all the merch available were EXPENSIVE resells bruh, I set out to get the Yuuko Aioi nendoroid and search ALL OVER Tokyo and saw and looked at THOUSANDS of nendoroid boxes... The closest I found was a Mai Minakami nendoroid in Nakano Broadway... In the end I just decided to buy the Yotsuba nendo... Yuuko or Nano nendo I will find someday, before I die...

Being in a fandom for a 15 year old anime is likr, u CANNOT find merch, unless its resells, or unless its popular, fortunately nichi has a small but dedicated community! I think if you watch nichijou you will either LALALOVE it or just be indifferent, likr I bought the box set of manga volumes 1 to 10 and I rly wanna do more stuff with it but I haven't had ideas that wouldn't destroy or ruin it... Good thing CITY came out last year! Guhh like, a friend at school asked if I knew CITY the Animation and it was neuron activating, I AM the, err, animation? The Jou and Animation! This is like referring to jaidenanimations where animations is her last name, or better yet—the singular version of animation like, "ms animation, waht inspiuted ypu touo dos ha kjj sghj jahkjdgh?" okae im myandering now.. WAIT ALSO, BRUH LIKR, THERE BARELY ANY NEW NICHI CONTENT (before CITY) I REMEMBER THERE WAS A WHOLE COMMUNITY FOR THE BACKGROUND CHARACTERS LIKE THE WAITRESS THE COMMUNITY DUBBED IRENE. Kinda like fan #1 and fan #2 in bocch rock the.

nichijou 2, ofc i love thid show, heh,,, i luv ecchan and matsuri's dynamic they should've included more urgfjhdj,

when i first found out CITY was gonna get animated, I rationed the episodes to be 1/month, because I can't let something like CITY the freaking Animation to be binged without being digested, Ecchan moving to England broke muh frekaing HEART brochacho, I shed a tear when it was implied 😭

Riko Izumi is my second favorite that's not the go-home club and Wako, (roughly, Ecchan & Matsuri (equal) then Wako) becuz I saw Riko Izumi making doohickeys and doo-dads, I saw her like, 2 only scenes, where she was soldering something to a PCB and I was likr "woahha coolios"

I love the safe and comfy vibe of CITY and Nichijou, and while studying one time I put the 1h version of Nagumo singing mambo no. 5

-Ye, fka Kanye West

i likey the musix! although he's said sum, uhh... Anyway! I discovered his music from a friend in school and realized Ye has so many bangers oml.

His story is like a fictional character bruh, I especially like his come up story, from producing beats since 7th grade, when he had a chance to make his first album, on the very last track he gambled all his aura by talking about how he'd "rock 30,000 I was just on stage," and that's my favorite song off of TCD for that reason, also the really yummy instrumental :P

If I were to rank the albums it would probably be, err, TCD then LR then Graaduation (or reverse order), then I'd put MBDTF right after, then KSG, then Ye, then TLOP, then Yeezus, then 808s, then WTT, then Donda, then JIK, then BULLY, then Cruel Summer, then the vultures albums (wuh owh!). Likr, if I could include GOOD Fridays then it'd be between MBDTF and KSG. As for unreleased music (because of course!), Star Time is a personal favorite, then the Japan exclusive: Bittersweet Poetry. There was a phase where I really liked No More Parties in LA, and New God Flow, and the 4 track run in Ye from Wouldn't Leave to Violent Crimes.

I would likr to admit he has used his platform atrociously, his story effectively ended around the TLOP and Yandhi era. The Kanye I looked up to is the one that spoke out and was open, the person who *was* from the bottom and was a relatable person, before he got all influenced by his circle of not-very-good influences, and now that the music has dropped in quality with ai, there is no more early 2000s and 2010s Kanye; the chutzpah and charisma that made all the music and lines that could be quoted isn't here anymore, it's the remains that still hold onto the achievements a fundamentally different person did—he's not the same person but still holds onto his past work as validation.

I remember Michael Beasley saying a person is afraid to be great because they'll be asked to do it again, and for Ye, I don't think he can. One of my favorite songs is False Prophets by J Cole, the entire first verse is how I feel about Kanye. J Cole is the lawful good version of Kanye, he finished college Magna Cum Laude graduate with a 3.8 GPA, upright citizen, doesn't cause too much drama, and has a similar come up story; Cole inspired by Kanye too, one of my favorite J Cole songs is Last Call!

-Yotsuba&!

Can you tell that I absolutely luvv the slice of life genre?

Yotsuba to me is the dinner nights where there's a power outage and everyone is in the present moment and eating together with a candle light to illuminate eachother's faces and everyone's laughing and talking.

It's when you see your best friend sitting across the room at a restaurant, and you kinda double take and make sure it's *really* them, and then you go next to them while they're distracted eating and say an inside joke only you and your friends know, and they IMMEDIATELY look around for who said that, then you both laugh and say "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

It's really comfy, it's the everyday present happenings that you remember and reference for years afterward, it's an inside joke from elementary or high school that never gets worn out from use.

I got a Yotsuba nendo and its top 3 prized possession of mine, I bring it everywhere to any and every important place and/or notable event. I placed it in my room where it gets hit by the sun and if you look closely it'll look like da Yob has a tan, but yaknow its finee, I want it to be worn a bit to let it be known that, yes, this nendo has been appropriately loved for a long time! Yo when my children are born the first pic I'm taking is one with the Yotsuba nendo I SWEAR ON MY cat (I don't have one).

Also, there's the danbo box set of all the Yotsuba volumes, but they're not the english translated, I super want one, like the little boc on my shelf! My future room will be FULL of paraphernalia of all my interests, a mosaic of the things I love! I remember volume 16, the one with AYUMU "Osaka" KASUGA AS A TEACHER... I hope Yotsuba&! never ends until Azuma passes away, and I hope it gets the anime adaptation it NEEDS. Likr, all of Yotsuba&! happens within likr, a year? Like from the 20-ish year run the main plot is just a very eventful year, like it goes from flip phones to smart phones in the newest volumes and it doesn't take away the magic of course, but its really funny

I love it so much, I want to buy the entire box set from vol. 1 to 16.

-Azumanga Daioh

Kiyohiko Azuma and Keiichi Arawi are the LeBron and Jordan of the slice of life genre,

Azumanga is the second anime I've ever finished, and felt the same charm with it as I did with Nichijou, although da Nichi I prefer much more. I remember a friend recommended Azumanga to me after I told them I liked Nichijou, and like, dang you right. And actually, yo I HAVE the azu 10th anniversary book! The picture you see is of my copy! There's a Keiichi Arawi comic of the Daiohs, it's like, super kewlsies. I found the book when I was in Japan for a while, amazing find!

The show is comfy, a great indicator that I would love it, there are some things that make you realize that it's a show from the early 2000s, but you kinda gloss over it. I remember this one Azumanga fanfic I saw where they were in a cyberpunk dystopia, the one by Farhan Melukis.

After azumanga I had a list and was going to watch like, glt, yuru camp, and the others muh friemdns watched or recommended, but then my list ended up being so long I just never got to watching any of them bruhe,, at least I watched the BEST ones, heh,

If I remember correctly I think there was a fan theory of Chiyo or Tomo DYING in 9/11 because the dates aligned where they could have gone to New York in 2001 or something

There was an osaka cover of the song Late on Late Registration I used to listen to constantly, idunno if the guy is still making those covers.

-Bob l'éponge

The bob was THE first thing I was ever a fan of, poprolly because my birthdays since I spawned in (lol, spawned in) were SpongeBob themed, I remember a very specific SpongeBob pillow and blanket, and I remember rewatching the first SpongeBob movie probably like 40 times, apparently I fought over teh remote with my auntie as recalled by my mom.

I memorized the first SpongeBob movie from memory and each and every line to where I wrote it down as an assignment in elementary, it was a writing assingment about something I liked if I remember correctly and I just decided to write the ENTIRE script from memory, I got through half the notebook when I realized I've only gotten to likr, the 5 minute mark and then I stopped... I love this story and keep retelliing it any chance I get and muh friemdns knoew.

There was a time at a sleepover in elementary school where I pretended to be dreaming about being in a SpongeBob episode, and I was narrating out loud what was happening and what I was doing, I remember it was something with boating school because I specifically remember getting to something about Mrs. Puff before being told to shut it!

I REMEMBER THERE WAS A SPONGEBOB x YUUKO SHIP STORY ON WATTPAD and I haven't read it so I cannot attest to its quality, but I'm going to read someday

Any child who wasn't allowed to, or couldn't watch SpongeBob has an incomplete childhood, like it is practically a REQUIREMENT because what do you mean you don't know that one SpongeBob episode where Pearl was having her birthday then Mr. Krabs was telling SpongeBob to buy cheap stuff for her and then SpongeBob got the boy band Boys Who Cry to perform for Pearl—LIKE IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT EPISODE YOU WOULDN'T GET WHY THIS IS SO FUNNY.

SpongeBob should be required watching for students grade 4 and below tbh, and the BEST seasons only.

-The Bronze Jade

Yaknow, I was never really into basketball my entire life up until 9th grade where I had this sorta rivalry with my friend cuz we both SUCKED, and we 1v1ed one time during lunch and EVERYBODY was watching and for 30 minutes, barely any of us scored, until the 1v1 ended up being 1-1. And I was DETERMINED to be better, so I started researching, likr going early to school sometimes and bringing a ball so I could practice before class (but like my sleep schedule SUCKED so it only happened like 4 times). And it was very fun!

I remember the Wolves vs Nuggets series in 2024, I knew NOTHIN about the NBA, I was a grade-A larper tbh, but it's good! You have to larp at least a little bit, and then I started watching clips and stuff, and knowing some of the memes or whatev, and I remember the game 2 shot Luka put up against 4 time DPOY Rudy Gobert to send the wolves back home, that was so cool bruh; even more recently, I remember the OKC vs Pacers series, I saw, LIVE, one of MANY game winners hali did that season, it was the mid range jumper if I remember correctly, and I was watching with my dad and we JUMPED UP bruh; I used to not be into sports! But sports is so kewlsies!

Since I have grown a bit, I am at the minimum height required to dunk, I can already touch/grab the rim, and Bryan Johnson is 49 years old and trying to dunk too, so anything is possible! I just need to ahm, actually be consistent in muh trainings, cuz being able to dunk is SO cool yk?!

Anyway, here's my obligatory all time list: Jordan (YES), LeBronze, Kareem, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Wilt, Steph Curry. And YES Jordan still ranks higher, I don't CAREEE that "we done with the 90s," because all time list is greatness, and Jordan was at a competetive era with all time greats AND achieved what he achieved! Larry Bird was at a time basketball was nothin, and Jordan played against real competition WHILE getting 6 championships, all time greats are left ringless because of Jordan. The fire of Jordan burned brightest, LeBron is just the longest running. LeBron has a final chance to surpass Jordan, because he's still in the league, but if he wins a championship with Philly, then, no doubt, I'm gonna have to concede that Jordan will no longer be #1. But that's a big if. Reason why LeBron isn't higher than Jordan for me is that he LOST to Dirk and the mavs, he dropped like, what, 8 points? In the FINALS??? If he won that, which they SHOULD have, then he'd be above Jordan. At least it's balanced out by the greatest championship of all time in 2016, but the 2011 finals is a big stain on LeBron's record!

-Hamilton

LIKE, ok so I've always heard of Hamilton but never watched it, then a friend told us that Hamilton was in theatres coincidentally and we as a group were likr, "eh sure why not." IT WAS SO GOOD. THERE WAS ZERO FILLER, NO BORING BITS AT ALL. LIKE, bruh I expected something of less quality but OH MY GOODNESS I REMEMBER AT THE END OF SCHUYLER SISTERS WHEN (eliza?) HIT THAT NOTE I REALIZED "oh my hwohdos this is so peaksies."

It didn't even feel like 3 hours, I wanted more bruh, I REALIZED THAT THE SONGS I WAS LISTENING TO WERE THE ENTIRE MUSICAL BRUH, cuz I liked some of the songs before I watched! And of course, I memorized the obligatory Guns and Ships fast part...

When we got into the theatre it was Lin Manuel talking about the production and we thought we ended up watching a documentary about it, but naw, then the actual musical is so good, and then after liking a new piece of media you HAVE to repost stuff about it, listen to teh songs until you've memorized them, fantasize about performing it with ur friemdns (and you as Lafayette), and then meeting Lin Manuel! As one usually does, yaknow...

I did the obligatory watchings of the full Hamilton 1st act animatic, and then recently there was a whole first act for Hamilton in minecraft! Then the unreleased songs, well, not *unreleased* per se, but like, First Burn muh favorite out of the ones not in the full musical, and then the other cabinet meeting rap battle, yaknow! I have a friend who was rlllyy into Hamilton before the rest of us, and we were rly close to performing Hamilton as our school presentation thingy, (unlicensed scamilton o_0)
